Custom Install is where we provide you with a solution which is probably unique to you made up from parts available to almost anyone.

At one extreme, when we sell you a Television, we prefer to hook it up to all your existing equipment, tidy the cables and make sure you cabinet is arranged neatly and explain how it works, that is Custom Install as opposed to delivery with plug and play.

At the other end of the spectrum of Custom Install is a whole room or whole house installation.

The most successful of these start in the planning stage, usually before the builder has even started to lick his pencil. You need to think roughly what you would like to achieve and how much you want to spend on it all. Remember, last time you bought a TV it may have cost less than £500. To get a ‘do everything’ multi room package with home cinema in the main room could cost between £1000 and £250,000 so ‘start early and get it right first time’ is a wise way of proceeding.

Many manufacturers specialise in Custom Installation products. The Bose Lifestyle® range of products cost a little more than an Onkyo Surround Amplifier with some Bose Acoustimass 10 surround speakers but is so simple to use and so clever in its operation that Bose Lifestyle® out sells conventional AV Amplifier solutions 4 to one at Around Sound and all our customers are thrilled with the Bose Lifestyle® results.

Loewe are now entering the Custom Installation market with a Loewe Multi Media Centre matched with Loewe Multi Room Receivers to give access to stored music, internet radio, Radio and TV sound all around the house.

Sonos have specialised in getting Internet radio and stored music off your computer around the house for quite a few years now. Sonos equipment is very easy to install and when you buy more than one item in a ‘bundle’ you can often get a reduction in price. Many of our Sonos customers buy from us but complete the set up themselves; however a significant number ask us to install the Sonos equipment, match it to their wireless network and explain to the rest of the family how it works.

Hidden wires are every house proud persons dream (you notice I did not say women’s dream but I do know who usually cares most in the houses we visit!). There should be a law past that says every wooden floor must be pre wired with speaker cable before its laid, however many do go down before the wires and we can usually find another method of getting sound to the back of the room with the minimum of mess. The Bose SL2 wireless rear speaker transmitter and receiver is a great solution and at only £200 not a huge amount of money!

The Loewe wireless rear speaker transmitter and receiver also provides a stunning looking solution which integrates effortlessly with all Loewe Audio equipment.

HDMI distribution or HD (High Definition) round the house is rapidly becoming the latest must have addition to any custom installation wiring scheme. HDMI does not like travelling more than 4m officially and 20m realistically. However, using Cat5 or Optical techniques, distances of over 100m can be achieved. This is a specialised area of Custom installation work but we have been fully trained by HDMI specialists from the USA and therefore can offer good advice to ensure you really get this right first time.

Cat 5, Cat 6 or Cat 7, shielded or unshielded? All these are questions that need to be asked before installing cable into a job. There is no such thing as future proof but installing the right wires at the start of a job will certainly ensure your custom installation outlasts reasonable expectations.

Custom installation may be very sophisticated on the inside but should be very simple to operate on the outside. That’s what we do. Come and visit, bring your favourite CD and DVD so we can give you an idea of what sound and picture we can provide.
